It is most commonly found in the hills of the Roero, northwest of Alba, where it is part of the white (DOCG) wines of Roero. Arneis (literally: little rascal, in Piemontese) is so called because it is regarded as a somewhat difficult variety to grow. It is a crisp and floral varietal, and has been grown for centuries in the region. The white wines made from the Arneis grape tend to be dry and full bodied with notes of pears and apricots. The wines are usually sold as Roero Arneis DOCG.

Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis is made from the 'Arneis' white grape variety, native to Piedmont and which performs particularly well on the sandy hills of Roero, northwest of Alba. Bruno Giacosa's Roero Arneis is a complex wine with a very expressive bouquet and rich flavours. The area is influenced by the proximity of the Alps, where cool air is drawn down from the mountains and the diurnal temperature differences help the vines to retain balancing acidity and slowly build intense aromatic profiles from the long hang-time. At the winery fermentation took place at a very slow pace to maintain the fresh and fruity flavours, in steel vats at controlled temperatures. Halfway through the fermentation, the tank was hermetically sealed in order to reabsorb a small amount of natural CO2. The wine did not undergo malolactic conversion, retaining balancing crispness and it remained on its lees until bottling.
