Years later, Bobby’s grandson, Sebastiaan discovered an old jenever bottle at his mother’s house. Inspired by the story of his grandfather, and the unique Indonesian recipe, he went to Schiedam – the city where gin was born. There he met with the seventh-generation master distiller of Herman Jansen Distillery and together they started working on creating a unique gin, blending the tradition of Schiedam Jenever with the best East Asian botanicals and spices. It is often distilled in pot stills, giving it a malty, weighty spirit similar to whisky. This Jenever is flavoured with cardamom, juniper, cubeb peppercorns, lemongrass, and ginger. The result is a characterful spirit, with a rich juniper profile, and plenty of citrusy zing, ginger freshness and earthy spice.
