The Grand Vin produced here was classified as one of fourteen Troisièmes Crus (Third Growths) in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Château is without doubt one of the most original buildings in the Médoc. John-Lewis Brown bought the vineyard in Cantenac at the beginning of the 19th century and built a traditional Tudor style château reminiscent of his Scottish origins. The estate quickly passed out of his family but his name will be forever linked to the château.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eToday the Château is managed by the French family Le Lous. Tristan Le Lous, an agronomist with a passion for oenology, is very involved in managing the estate, together with José Sanfins, who is inextricably linked with the estate’s modern history. The meeting of this twosome was a pivotal milestone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2020, aware of the importance of preserving the estate’s land and exceptional environment, Tristan Le Lous and José Sanfins launched the construction of a new wine cellar built entirely of raw earth in which environmental quality standards are set at today’s highest possible level, while guaranteeing thermal inertia and the perfect humidity for ageing thanks to the power of the earth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCantenac Brown has 60,5 hectares of sustainably cultivated vineyard located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, principally in the southern commune of Cantenac.
