Currently guided by Jean, the 25th generation of the family, the property places a strong focus on promoting soil health and biodiversity. Recognising the untapped potential of the deep clay soils, she worked alongside Jean to drastically reduce vineyard yields, meaning the vines produce fewer, but much more flavourful grapes. They also chose to dial back the use of new oak barrels during ageing to let the natural fruit shine through. The vineyards are planted primarily with Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Malbec. This meticulous approach results in beautifully plush, fruit-forward profiles that are incredibly accessible, backed by elegant, velvety tannins.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-path-to-node=\"5\"\u003eBeyond the impressive quality of the liquid itself, the estate holds the remarkable title of being the oldest family-owned property in \u003cb data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"135\"\u003eBordeaux\u003c\/b\u003e, having belonged to the Simard de Pitray lineage for over six centuries. This deep respect for history is even reflected in the design of their bottles.
