Established in the 1920s, the domaine is now in its fourth generation, with Etienne Sauzet’s great great granddaughter Emilie and Benoît Riffault, her winemaker husband, running the domaine. They own a total of 10 hectares in Puligny-Montrachet and have recently acquired five hectares in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. Etienne Sauzet also purchase grapes from family and trusted growers and have been practising biodynamic viticulture since 2008. The portion of new oak in the cellar has been reduced in recent years to allow the elegance of the fruit to shine through. Benoît’s immaculate winemaking clearly stands out in his wines, which are all about minerality, precision and exceptional length.

Etienne Sauzet is arguably one of Puligny's finest domaines and Benoît Riffault's immaculate wines are all about minerality, precision and exceptional length. Sourced from seven parcels around Puligny Montrachet, this is an incredibly pure and elegant Puligny. Practising both organic and biodynamic viticulture, all the grapes were hand harvested and subject to careful sorting both in the vineyard and the winery. Once sorted, they were gently whole bunch pressed in a pneumatic press for two hours to keep as much of the aromatics and rich fruit flavours as possible. Temperature controlled fermentation took place in older barrels under constant supervision. The wine was then aged in oak barrels, 15% of which were new and the remainder 2-3 years old, for a 12 to 15-month period. A further 3 months of ageing occurred in stainless-steel tanks before the wine was racked off the fine lees and bottled. This Puligny-Montrachet has incredible purity and precision. The nose displays perfumed aromas of candied fruit, lifted by fresh floral notes. Richly textured with concentrated fruit flavours, the palate is extremely well balanced by crisp acidity and mineral notes on the finish.[#intro]From one of Puligny's finest domaines this is an incredibly pure & elegant Puligny Montrachet...[/intro]

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0106/1539/0266/products/PulignyMontrachetBottle_2936e07f-1ebc-4939-a218-1a7a7682cf01.jpg?v=1642873603
etienne-sauzet-la-tufera-bourgogne-blanc
Etienne Sauzet La Tufera Bourgogne Blanc 2023

Etienne Sauzet's La Tufera punches far above its AOC status. Fermentation, using only indigenous yeasts, takes place in stainless-steel tanks for approximately three weeks. The wine was then aged for 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels (15% new), before spending a further three months in stainless steel vats to settle before bottling. In keeping with Etienne's signature winemaking style, the Hautes Côtes de Beaune Blanc 'Jardin du Calvaire' has a very precise, fresh nose with notes of citrus, white flowers and delicate mineral undertones. On the palate, there are notes of white pepper, vanilla and herbs. It has a lively acidity with a long saline finish.
