Instead of planting Sangiovese, he planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, as well as Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"c1 c2\"\u003eA massive investment was made and an impressive winery was built in the Californian style. Work continues today extending the winery and the initial desire to fully integrate the structures into the landscape has resulted in a beautiful and harmonious building.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"c1 c2\"\u003eLodovico Antinori developed and nurtured the estate for over a decade before passing the baton to the very successful joint ownership of Marchese de’ Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi which has today metamorphosed into ownership by Tenuta di Toscana, a company controlled by Marchesi de’Frescobaldi.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"c1 c2\"\u003eThis history matters since the different owners have given exceptional impetus, as well as financial support, to the fledgling estate, enabling serious development and investment. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia combines generosity and depth of flavour with an engaging and vibrant personality. At the winery each variety and each parcel was vinified separately. Malolactic fermentation was started in stainless steel, and completed after transfer to barrels (25% new and 75% a year old). The wine remained in Ornellaia’s temperature-controlled cellar for a further 15 months. It was assembled after the first 12 months and then reintroduced into the barrels for a further 3 months. After bottling, it was aged for an additional six months prior to release. Le Serre Nuove dell’ Ornellaia 2015 perfectly represents its exceptional vintage, combining an ideal balance of elements in a way that rarely happens; a balance of ripeness, substance and a particular pleasantness. With an intense colour and youthful appearance, its intense and ripe fruity aroma with subtle spicy and toasted highlights are detected on the nose.  Well-rounded and satin-smooth on the palate, great texture and harmoniously balanced, with a succulent fruitiness which ends with a zesty finish with no sharp edges, freshened by balsamic notes.
