The 2016 assemblage consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Malbec (20%), Petit Verdot (12%), Carmenere (8%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The wine was aged for 22 months in a combination of French oak barrels (88%) of which 73% were new and foudres (12%). Deep and beautiful ruby red in colour with a bright violet glimmer. The nose offers gorgeous aromas of blueberries, cherries, and violets framed by light notes of nuts, fine pastry, and a lingering touch of truffle that lends elegance. The palate is in line with the nose while adding delicate notes of rose petals. It is fresh and juicy and full of life, with elegant, fine-grained tannins that are both firm yet delicate, and speak of wine with tremendous ageing potential. The launch of Seña’s second wine aims to continue exploring the expression of our terroir with a unique blend from selected blocks of our Seña vineyard and the addition of the Mediterranean varieties that flourish in the Aconcagua Valley to deliver elegance and youthful freshness. The composition of Rocas de Seña 2020 is Malbec (38%), Syrah (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Grenache (14%) and Petit Verdot (8%) matured for 22 months in French oak (65% new). The 2020 vintage of Rocas de Seña has a beautiful purple colour. Subtle aromas of coffee and Asian spices with a touch of mocha from the oak create a very deep and complex nose. The palate is vibrant and tense with good density and shows multiple layers of fresh fruits, spices, and balsamic notes with a hint of smoke.
