Founded in 1919 by the Soldati family, La Scolca is the historic estate that single-handedly rescued the Cortese grape from regional obscurity. While the rest of Piedmont was fiercely focused on the red giants of Barolo and Barbaresco, La Scolca had the audacious vision to treat their white grapes with the reverence typically reserved for a Grand Cru.
They are the undisputed creators of the modern Gavi di Gavi movement and hold the original trademark for "Gavi dei Gavi." By pioneering meticulous cold-fermentation and extended lees ageing, they forged a completely new identity for the region's white wines. The estate's distinct terroir - characterised by ancient, marine-derived limestone and clay - imparts a profound, flinty minerality and a razor-sharp, saline tension that defines every bottle they produce.
From the vibrant, youthful energy of the Valentino, through the historic restaurant benchmark of the White Label, all the way up to the monumental, age-worthy structure of the iconic Black Label, this collection is a masterclass in terroir-driven winemaking. These are not merely casual, refreshing pours; they are serious, aristocratic wines with the structural bone and focused acidity required to elevate the finest coastal cuisine and rich, complex dishes.
