CAMPANIA
Campania is one of Italy's most vibrant and ancient wine regions, centered around the bustling city of Naples and the looming presence of Mount Vesuvius. The region's winemaking history is deeply intertwined with its volcanic landscape, which provides mineral-rich soils that have been prized since Roman times. Today, Campania is a world leader in preserving indigenous grape varieties, offering a range of wines that are as dramatic and soulful as the landscape itself.
While many associate the south with heavy reds, Campania is arguably Italy’s finest region for white wines. Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo are the twin jewels of the region; Fiano offers a sophisticated, honeyed texture with notes of hazelnut and spice, while Greco is more powerful and mineral-driven. On the red side, the Aglianico grape reigns supreme. In the hills of Taurasi, it produces deeply complex, structured wines often referred to as the "Barolo of the South" due to their incredible ability to age. From the sun-kissed vineyards of the Amalfi Coast to the rugged interior, Campania delivers a profound taste of Italy's volcanic heart.
