Belarmino is a highly personal viticultural project born from a close partnership with the celebrated Moure family in the Ribeira Sacra appellation of Galicia. Named affectionately after "Uncle Belar"—a beloved figure who left a lasting mark on the founders—the estate captures the rugged, magical spirit of northwestern Spain. The vineyards are dramatically carved into steep slate and granitic hillsides that rise sharply above the local river canyons. This challenging terrain forces all vineyard work to be done entirely by hand, maintaining a deep respect for a landscape that has been cultivated since Roman times and is deeply tied to historic monastic life along the Camino de Santiago.
The climate of this stunning Atlantic-influenced region plays a defining role in shaping the style of the wines. These sheer rocky terraces act as natural heat traps during the sunny daytime hours and gently release that warmth at night, allowing the grapes to ripen fully. This daytime heat is balanced by cooling breezes from the ocean and regular rainfall, which locks in a brilliant, crisp acidity. The combination of old vines, low grape yields, and free-draining granitic soils provides a distinctive mineral backbone, giving everyday drinkers a taste of a highly unique environment where mountain and maritime influences meet.
