Blair Athol | Highland

View of Blair Athol Distillery from across the river in Pitlochry

Situated in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, right at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, Blair Athol is one of the oldest and most beautiful working distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1798, its historic stone buildings are famously draped in rich green ivy, drawing pure water from the ancient Allt Dour, which translates from Gaelic as the 'burn of the otter'.

While a vast majority of the spirit produced here is destined to provide the rich, nutty heart of the famous Bell's blend, the distillery's rare single malt releases are an absolute hidden gem and highly prized by whisky lovers.

The classic Highland single malt style of Blair Athol is completely unpeated, yet it packs an incredible depth of flavour. Known for its wonderfully rich, deep-toned character, a typical dram delivers gorgeous notes of spiced fruitcake, toasted walnuts, and sweet apricot, often elevated by maturation in European oak sherry casks. It is a fantastic choice for those who enjoy a heavier, robust whisky without the coastal smoke.
