Chambers Rosewood | Victoria

Nestled in the historic gold-rush township of Rutherglen in north-east Victoria, Chambers Rosewood stands as one of Australia’s most legendary family-owned wine estates. Founded back in 1858 by William Chambers - who emigrated from Norfolk and brought traditional European winemaking knowledge with him - the property is currently guided by sixth-generation winemaker Stephen Chambers. The estate is internationally famous for its extraordinary fortified wines, yet it also produces an impressive range of regional table wines from its 50 hectares of vines.
The vineyards sit on the warm, dry fringes of Rutherglen, where ancient alluvial soils provide an ideal home for classic varieties. While the estate is globally revered for its benchmark Muscat and Muscadelle (locally known as Topaque), the family also crafts exceptional dry table styles. Viticulture here remains deeply traditional: vines are meticulously hand-pruned, and the surrounding 2,000-acre sheep farm plays a natural role in the ecosystem, providing organic fertilizer and keeping the undergrowth managed between rows.
In the historic cellars, winemaking relies heavily on a treasured network of seasoned oak casks and solera systems - with some original blending bases dating back to the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This unbroken lineage of family custodianship gives Chambers Rosewood its distinct character. Whether exploring their fresh everyday table releases or their breathtakingly complex, aged fortified sweet wines, every bottle offers a genuine taste of Australian winemaking history.
