Constantia Glen is a relatively new winery which has established itself in the enclave of cool climate Constantia in South Africa, close to Cape Town itself. Although the region is more commonly known for its success in white wine production, Constantia Glen’s unique position - lying between a gap in the mountains - allows red grapes to mature perfectly here as they bask in an additional one and a half hours’ sunlight every day. As such, Constantia Glen has made a name for its elegant, complex and beautifully balanced Bordeaux style red wine blends.

Decomposed granite and Table Mountain sandstone are the dominant soil types that lend minerality and the graceful character to the Constantia Glen wines. High water retention of the rich clay sub-soils allows for sustainable dryland cultivation, while ecologically sound practices include biological insect and pest control by means of natural predators.

The red wines are based on the traditional Bordeaux grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot whilst the whites are predominately Sauvignon Blanc, with a touch of Sémillon to enhance its many layers.
