Dalwhinnie Distillery | Highland

Situated high in the Cairngorm National Park, Dalwhinnie holds the proud title of being one of the highest and coldest working distilleries in all of Scotland. Founded in 1897, it sits at a remote, windswept junction of old Highland cattle drove roads, drawing its exceptionally pure water from a mountain loch located over two thousand feet above sea level.

Despite the rugged, freezing environment surrounding the distillery, the whisky produced inside is famously known as the 'Gentle Spirit'. It is a magnificent representation of a highly approachable Highland single malt. The intensely cold climate means the copper stills run extremely cold, forcing the alcohol vapours to work much harder to rise. This traditional process strips away any heavy impurities, resulting in a remarkably clean, elegant, and refined liquid.

A typical dram is wonderfully soft and unpeated, offering gorgeous waves of sweet heather honey, soft vanilla, and delicate orchard fruit. It is an exceptionally welcoming whisky, making it a spectacular introduction to the region and a flawless choice for a relaxing evening pour.
