Finca Nueva | Rioja

Founded by acclaimed winemaker Miguel Ángel de Gregorio, the Finca Nueva estate offers a wonderfully refreshing take on the classic Rioja region. Situated among the sun-drenched vineyards of northern Spain, the project deliberately steps away from the heavy, deeply traditional styles often associated with the area. Instead, the focus rests entirely on capturing the natural energy and bright fruit of the local vines, producing highly accessible Spanish wines that are instantly rewarding to pour.
A key element of the winemaking approach here is a noticeable shift in how the wine rests before release. Rather than undergoing extended periods of ageing in new oak barrels, which can often overpower delicate flavours, these Rioja wines are treated with a much gentler hand. By significantly reducing the oak influence, the natural characteristics of the grapes take centre stage. This results in crisp, fruit-forward profiles that feel completely fresh and alive in the glass, bypassing the need for years of careful cellaring.
The driving philosophy behind the estate is best captured by their own affectionate nickname for the collection: "vinos divertidos," or fun wines. De Gregorio created this label specifically to break down the overly serious nature that sometimes surrounds fine wine, aiming to deliver bottles that bring immediate joy to the dining table. This relaxed, highly drinkable style ensures that whether you are opening a bottle for a quiet mid-week dinner or sharing it with friends at the weekend, the experience is always completely effortless.
