Glenkinchie Distillery Entrance

Tucked away in the rolling farmland of East Lothian, just a short journey from the Scottish capital, lies Glenkinchie Distillery. Founded in 1825 by two farming brothers, John and George Rate, it proudly holds the title of "The Edinburgh Malt" and stands as one of the few remaining survivors of the great traditional Lowland single malt distilleries.

Today, it holds another incredibly prestigious title: The Lowland Home of Johnnie Walker. As one of the integral "Four Corners of Scotland" distilleries, Glenkinchie provides the delicate, floral, and grassy foundation that expertly balances the heavier Highland and Islay malts used in their world-famous blends.

The secret to this incredibly elegant spirit lies in the distillation. Using some of the largest copper pot stills in all of Scotland alongside traditional cast-iron worm tub condensers, the resulting liquid is brilliantly light, fresh, and exceptionally fragrant. The classic house style is completely unpeated, offering gorgeous notes of cut grass, sweet vanilla, fresh green apples, and soft spring flowers.

It is the perfect introduction for beginners, a spectacular pre-dinner pour, and a brilliant base for a refreshing highball.
