Monte Zovo | Lugana

Monte Zovo can trace its origins back to 1925, when the Cottini family business was founded by Carlo Cottini. While originally dedicated to mixed farming, it was during the 1950s under his son Raffaello that the estate focused purely on viticulture. In 1990, third-generation winemaker Diego Cottini established the modern winery and launched their family-owned Le Civaie estate in the picturesque region of Lugana in Northern Italy. Nestled along the southern shores of Lake Garda, these pristine vineyards span two unique zones in Pozzolengo and Desenzano, where a mild lake microclimate and dense, mineral-rich white clay soils allow local vines to flourish.
What makes these Italian white wines so compelling to everyday drinkers is their remarkable balance of ripe, juicy fruit and refreshing mountain minerality. Lugana is famed for the local Turbiana grape variety, which thrives in the estate’s nutrient-dense soils. The warm lake breezes help ripen the grapes gradually, locking in vibrant natural acidity while developing mouth-watering flavours of white peach, crisp green apple, and fresh lemon zest. The resulting bottlings are wonderfully expressive, smooth, and dry, offering a bright, elegant alternative to standard Mediterranean whites.
Environmental stewardship sits at the absolute heart of the Cottini family philosophy. The entire Le Civaie estate is cultivated sustainably, proudly holding triple eco-accreditation certified by 'Biodiversity Friend', SQNPI, and Equalitas. From preserving local flora and fauna across the vineyards to using lightweight glass bottles that reduce carbon emissions during transport, every step of the winemaking process honors the land. This deep commitment ensures that every bottle of Monte Zovo Lugana delivers pure fruit clarity, crisp finesse, and a genuine taste of its Lake Garda origin.
