Tucked away in the narrow Muses Valley at the foot of Mount Helicon, Muses Estate beautifully blends ancient winemaking roots with a bright, contemporary energy. Today, three third-generation brothers lead the family estate, focusing their passion on local grapes grown in rare, high-altitude vineyards. Sitting 700 metres above sea level, these vines are defined by a brilliant geographical quirk: a constant, natural wind tunnel created by the surrounding mountains. These cool breezes sweep down the slopes to act as a natural air conditioner, balancing the intense Mediterranean sunshine and locking a wonderful crispness, structural elegance, and juicy vibrancy into every single grape.
The entire range is designed around immediate, pure fruit enjoyment rather than heavy oak influence. A brilliant viticultural highlight of the collection is the historic, indigenous Savatiano grape, which the estate treats with total simplicity to let the natural landscape shine. Because the high-altitude climate preserves the grape's natural acidity, the resulting wine skips any heavy winemaking intervention, delivering a wonderfully round, juicy profile packed with ripe honeydew melon, tangy lime zest, and a distinct, stony minerality that makes exploring Greece’s historic grape varieties completely effortless.
Beyond the unique climate, the true soul of the estate lies in its connection to local mythology and a daring rescue mission. The valley itself was named by the ancients as the home of the 9 Muses of Greek myth, who famously held poetry and music contests on the slopes of Mount Helicon. It is this artistic heritage that inspired the family to save Mouhtaro—an incredibly rare, dark-skinned local grape variety that had dwindled to just a few forgotten vines in the valley. By stubbornly reviving this near-extinct grape, the brothers created a smooth, berry-packed red wine that is completely unique to their corner of the world. At the dinner table, these expressive mountain wines are incredibly versatile, pairing brilliantly with Mediterranean classics like grilled chicken, charred halloumi, fresh seafood, and salads topped with feta.
