Querciabella | Tuscany

Situated high in the hills of the Chianti Classico region, Querciabella is a stunning estate surrounded and protected by dense natural forests and wild scrubland. This pristine, isolated environment provides the perfect setting for their 74 hectares of vines in central Tuscany. Further south along the unspoilt Etruscan coast, the estate tends an additional 32 hectares of sun-drenched vineyards in the Maremma, an area of outstanding natural beauty that provides the vibrant fruit for their coastal blends.

What makes this estate truly remarkable is its scale and strict devotion to natural farming. Holding the largest expanse of biodynamically farmed vineyards in Italy, the winery operates on a completely balanced ecosystem where vital soils nurture healthy vines. Since the year 2000, they have pioneered a unique approach known as cruelty-free biodynamics. While traditional organic farming often relies on animal-derived fertilisers, this team bans the use of any animal products across all phases of grape growing and winemaking. The result is a purely 100% vegan wine crafted in perfect harmony with nature.

Driven by the charismatic Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, the winery first caught the attention of international critics in the late 1990s and has never looked back. Sebastiano and his team are completely convinced that this uncompromising, plant-based approach to viticulture is the secret behind the exquisite quality of their bottles. By fiercely protecting their natural surroundings and letting the vines speak for themselves, the estate continues to craft incredibly pure, authentic red wines that capture the true energy of the Italian landscape.
