VERMENTINO

Vermentino is a white wine grape variety primarily grown in Italy. It is widely planted in Sardinia, in Liguria primarily under the name Pigato, to some extent in Corsica under the name Malvoisie, in Piedmont under the name Favorita and in increasing quantities in the Languedoc-Roussillon where it is also known as Rolle. Traditionally, Vermentino was believed to be related to the Malvasia grape, however, recent studies have revealed that it has traits in common with the Hungarian Furmint.

The most famous wine made from Vermentino is probably the DOCG Vermentino di Gallura (and Vermentino di Gallura Superiore) which is produced in the province of Olbia-Tempio, in the north of Sardinia.

Often blended for its structure, on its own the grape displays aromatic ripe peach and honeyed notes and a full body.
