Nestled along the sun-drenched Mediterranean coast of the Languedoc lies the appellation of Picpoul de Pinet. It is a unique terroir, bordering the saltwater Thau Lagoon - famous for its flamingoes and, more importantly, its oyster beds. It is no coincidence that the wine produced here is considered the world's greatest pairing for shellfish.

Known locally as Piquepoul (literally translating to "Lip Stinger"), this ancient grape variety fell out of fashion for decades, replaced by the ubiquity of Sauvignon Blanc. However, the British palate has rediscovered its charm. While Sauvignon shouts with tropical fruit, Picpoul whispers with green apple, citrus zest, and acacia flowers. It is the definition of Mediterranean freshness.

What defines a great Picpoul is salinity. The vines, growing in limestone and sand just metres from the sea, absorb that maritime character. The result is a wine that is razor-sharp, bone dry, and possesses a refreshing mineral edge that cleanses the palate like a squeeze of lemon.
