Château Perron | Lalande-de-Pomerol

Located on the prestigious Right Bank of Bordeaux, Château Perron is widely celebrated for producing some of the finest red wines in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. The vineyards sit on a fantastic mix of sandy gravel and iron-rich clay soils, which provide the perfect environment for growing world-class Merlot. These deep, ancient soils naturally restrict the vines, forcing them to concentrate all their energy into producing small, intensely flavoured grapes.

The estate itself holds a remarkable place in local history. The original stone château was built back in 1642, making it one of the very oldest buildings in the commune of Néac. The Massonie family has carefully managed these historic vineyards for several generations, preserving traditional farming methods while quietly modernising the cellar to ensure their French red wine remains incredibly pure and expressive.

What makes this particular corner of Bordeaux so appealing to everyday drinkers is the wonderfully approachable style of the wine. Because the final blend usually includes a touch of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside the dominant Merlot, the wines strike a brilliant balance between rich dark fruit and a fresh, lively structure. They offer all the luxurious, velvety texture you would expect from the famous neighbouring region of Pomerol, but often with a much softer and more welcoming character in their youth.
