Located at the highest point of the famous Catusseau plateau, Château Petit-Village is a true gem of the Pomerol wine region. Its visually striking, triangle-shaped vineyard is rooted in an exceptional terroir, sitting right next door to world-renowned neighbours like Vieux Château Certan and Château Le Pin. The vines grow in a spectacular mix of quartz and flint gravel over a deep, iron-rich clay subsoil known locally as crasse de fer. This unique composition provides excellent drainage, keeping the soils warmer than other sites and imparting a distinctly brilliant, silky texture to the finished wines.

While the Pomerol appellation is overwhelmingly famous for its reliance on the Merlot grape, this estate takes a slightly different approach. Alongside a dominant portion of Merlot, they maintain unusually high plantings of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This unique blend results in a medium-to-full-bodied red wine that favours elegance and refinement over heavy extraction. In the glass, you can expect inviting layers of soft plum and black cherry, all backed by quintessentially plush tannins and a mouth-watering lift of acidity.

The estate has recently entered a thrilling new era. Purchased by the Moulin family in 2020, the property has seen massive investment in both the vineyards and the winery to secure the highest level of environmental certification. Headed by technical director Guillaume Frédoux, the winemaking team has even introduced a brilliant new second wine, Le Petit de Petit-Village. Matured in a combination of French oak barrels and amphorae, it perfectly captures the estate's dedication to producing a classic, fruit-forward Bordeaux wine that is immediately approachable for the everyday drinker.
