Château Petit-Village 2017
The Château Petit-Village Pomerol 2017 is a masterclass in elegance and a magnificent example of a premium French red wine. Coming from the very top of the famous Catusseau plateau, this Grand Vin beautifully showcases how the estate’s unique vineyard choices result in a highly distinctive style. While many of its neighbours rely almost entirely on Merlot, this wine incorporates generous dashes of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon into the blend. This adds a brilliant backbone of structure and a savoury depth to the region's famously soft fruit. To soften the tannins and add a layer of warming complexity, the winemaking team matured this vintage in French oak barrels for fifteen months. In the glass, it reveals an intensely aromatic bouquet of dark plum, wild blackberry, and crushed violet, followed by subtle hints of cedar and baking spice. The palate is wonderfully refined, trading heavy extraction for a silky, medium-bodied freshness that glides effortlessly across the tongue and lingers on the finish. Because of its beautiful balance and refined structure, this sophisticated Bordeaux red wine is an absolute joy to match with a hearty evening dinner. It cuts beautifully through the richness of a slow-roasted beef joint, deeply savoury lamb chops, or a comforting, slow-cooked venison stew.
