The Coastal Region is the historic and cultural heart of the South African wine industry. Hugging the Atlantic coastline around the Cape Peninsula, this sprawling area benefits from the cooling influence of the ocean, which tempers the intense African sun. Nearby, the picturesque valley of Franschhoek (the "French Corner") combines a rich Huguenot heritage with exceptional winemaking, while Paarl offers a warmer climate perfect for rich Shiraz and Chenin Blanc.
