Domaine Bruno Sorg | Alsace

Vineyards of Bruno Sorg near Eguisheim in Alsace

Located on the picturesque south-east-facing slopes of Eguisheim, just south of Colmar, Domaine Bruno Sorg is the source of some of the finest, richest, and most concentrated wines in Alsace. Production is exceptionally small, making their bottles a rare and highly sought-after find for everyday drinkers looking to experience the true depth of the region.

The estate is defined by a remarkable tale of patience and dedication. Over a period of thirty years, the late Bruno Sorg secretly purchased small parcels of steep, rugged terroir in the heart of the Grand Cru Pfersigberg. Alongside his son, François, they eventually amassed a continuous one-and-a-half-hectare plot, painstakingly clearing the forest and terracing the severe inclines to plant new vines.

This magnificent hillside site yielded its first fruit in 2004. That same year, François constructed a modern, temperature-controlled winery just outside the village, famously noting that the upgraded facility finally gave him the time to think, rather than endlessly climbing ladders and stairs in their old cellar. This highly precise environment has elevated their already superb portfolio—which includes exceptional Riesling, arguably the finest Muscat in the region, and deeply textured Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris - adding an extra dimension of clarity and finesse to the glass.
