EBRO RIVER VALLEY

The Ebro River Valley is the powerhouse of Northern Spain, home to some of the most famous names in the world of wine. As the river flows from the mountains toward the sea, it creates a long corridor of vineyards with very different characters. This is the place where the Tempranillo grape is king, but it is also a region where you will find refreshing whites and some of the best-value reds in Europe.
At the very heart of the valley is Rioja, Spain’s most famous wine region. Here, the focus is on smooth, reliable reds that have a wonderful balance of fruit and a touch of oak. Just next door is Navarra, a region that has made a name for itself by producing incredibly bright and fruity Rosado (rosé) wines, primarily using the Garnacha grape.
As you follow the river further east into the drier, sunnier plains of Aragon, the wines become bolder and more powerful. Areas like Campo de Borja and Calatayud are famous for their old-vine Garnacha, which produces rich, spicy reds that are packed with dark berry flavours. Whether you are looking for a classic, elegant Rioja or a modern, punchy red from the plains, the Ebro Valley offers a straightforward and deeply satisfying range of styles for every wine lover.
