Castel Firmian Pinot Grigio is a crisp, finely balanced Italian white wine grown in the Trentino DOC region of northern Italy, right at the foot of the Dolomite mountains. Taking its name from the historic fifteenth-century castle overlooking the valley, this wine benefits from warm, sunny days in the sheltered river valleys followed by cool Alpine air sweeping down from the peaks at night, allowing the Pinot Grigio grapes to ripen with plenty of flavour while keeping a bright, mountain-stream freshness. Fermented in stainless steel tanks with a brief rest on its fine lees for extra smoothness, it steps well clear of thin, watery styles. Fragrant chamomile, ripe conference pear, and golden delicious apple lead on the nose, followed by a clean, lively palate of white peach, lemon zest, and a gentle hint of wild mountain herbs.
