Inama Carminium 2022
The Inama Carminium is a structured Veneto red wine made entirely from Carmenère grapes. Grown on the hot, iron-rich limestone soils of the Colli Berici, the fruit develops a naturally concentrated and savoury character. The winemaking team ages the wine in oak barrels for an extended period to build a firm structure and integrate the tannins. In the glass, it delivers intense notes of dark woods and roasted coffee, followed by bitter dark chocolate. The finish is long and dry, marked by dried herbs and a pronounced hit of cracked black pepper. This weighty Italian red wine requires robust, savoury dishes to match its firm tannins and dark fruit profile. It is an excellent pairing for a slow-roasted shoulder of lamb, venison sausages with rich onion gravy, or a hearty beef and ale stew. It also has the structure to sit comfortably alongside grilled portobello mushrooms or a board of mature, hard cheeses.
