Maturana Wines Naranjo Torontel 2024
Maturana Wines Naranjo Torontel is a brilliant, highly expressive orange wine produced in tiny quantities in the remote Loncomilla subregion of Chile’s Maule Valley. The Torontel grapes are harvested from heritage vines that are nearly eighty years old, bringing an incredible depth and concentration to the finished wine. To achieve its distinct style and beautiful colour, the winemaking team leaves the juice in direct contact with the pinkish grape skins for eight full months. This slow, natural process gently extracts the vibrant orange hue alongside a fantastic array of complex aromas and textures. In the glass, it is incredibly aromatic. You are immediately met with fragrant notes of fresh orange peel, sweet honey, white spring flowers, and a warm potpourri of spices like cardamom. On the palate, it is remarkably refined and lean. It delivers a fresh, highly concentrated surge of complex flavour that leaves a beautifully clean and energetic finish. With its aromatic spice and textural grip, this fascinating Chilean orange wine is a superb companion for richly flavoured food. It is an outstanding match for a fragrant Moroccan chicken tagine, a sticky glazed pork belly, or a generous spread of bold, mature cheeses.
