The vines are rooted high above sea level in nutrient-rich, stony ash, creating an incredibly harsh environment that naturally forces the grapes to produce low yields with massive concentrations of flavour. This unique, high-altitude Mediterranean climate ensures the final pour retains a mouth-watering, electric freshness that heavier reds simply cannot match. The native Nerello Mascalese grape is the undisputed star of the region, frequently celebrated by everyday drinkers as a brilliant alternative to traditional Pinot Noir. While it shares the same pale colour and elegant red fruit profile, the volcanic soils impart a totally distinct, smoky minerality and fine-grained grip.
