Greywacke Marlborough Riesling 2023
The Greywacke Riesling is a great example of just how refreshing and vibrant Marlborough white wine can be. Sourced from organically farmed, twenty-five-year-old vines, the grapes are carefully hand-picked to capture their natural freshness and lively character right from the start. In the winery, half the juice is fermented in stainless steel, while the rest rests in older French oak barrels using natural wild yeasts. This approach adds a slightly softer, smoother texture. The winemakers also leave a gentle touch of natural sweetness in the wine, which balances perfectly with its crisp, zesty bite. Intensely fragrant, the wine displays aromas of crisp green apple, honeydew melon, and lemon zest, backed by floral hints of jasmine and honeysuckle. It feels silky on the palate, finishing with a really refreshing, mouth-watering crispness. Because it balances that gentle sweetness with bright acidity so well, it is a reliable match for mildly spicy dishes. It drinks perfectly alongside a fragrant Thai green curry, crispy chilli squid, or a classic roast pork.
