Parker Estate First Growth Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
The Parker Estate First Growth Cabernet Sauvignon is an elite, small-batch release crafted exclusively in vintages deemed truly exceptional by the winemaking team. The magnificent 2019 vintage marks an incredibly exciting milestone for the property, showing a masterful evolution toward precision, poise, and structural elegance under the careful stewardship of the Hesketh family. The fruit for this flagship red is sourced entirely from the historic Abbey Vineyard, specifically utilising the rare Reynell Selection cuttings. These ancient clones trace their lineage directly back to original pre-phylloxera Bordeaux stock brought to South Australia in the nineteenth century. Rooted deeply into the razor-narrow, iron-rich Coonawarra Terra Rossa clay and underlying limestone, these mature vines produce tiny, highly concentrated berries teeming with immense structural power and natural, bright acidity. Following a patient extended maceration on the skins to seamlessly integrate the grape's natural, fine-grained tannins, the wine was matured for 18 months in premium French oak barriques. In the glass, Parker Estate First Growth reveals a commanding, tightly coiled profile packed with dark cassis, blackberries, raw cocoa, and a classic regional lift of dried mint and cedar leaf. Powerful yet remarkably elegant, it builds steadily on a long, persistent, and gravelly finish. This is a spectacular, collector-grade Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon explicitly built to evolve beautifully in the cellar for over two decades.
