Sourced from a prestigious single-vineyard estate in the cool heights of the Adelaide Hills, The Lane Heritage Shiraz Viognier pays a beautiful homage to the legendary red wines of the Northern Rhône. To capture that classic French elegance, the winemakers add a small dash of white Viognier grapes to the fermenting Shiraz. This time-honoured technique acts as a natural seasoning, lifting the vivid floral aromas and locking in a brilliantly deep colour. The wine is then carefully matured in French oak barrels, adding a luxurious layer of gentle spice. Pouring a striking crimson, the aromas are highly perfumed with scents of dark cherry, crushed wild violet, and a distinct crack of black pepper. Because the vines enjoy the cooler mountain air of South Australia, the palate feels wonderfully fresh and energetic. It drinks with a medium-bodied finesse, wrapping those rich black fruit flavours in silky, super-fine tannins before closing on a remarkably clean, lingering finish.
