Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2023
Crafted by Famille Perrin - the iconic winemaking family behind Château de Beaucastel (and those legendary 'Chicken Wine' everyday bottles!) - Les Cornuds is sourced from the steep, terraced vineyards of Vinsobres, the northernmost cru appellation in France's Southern Rhône valley. This unique site captures a brilliant balance between Mediterranean warmth and cool alpine breezes. Situated at a higher altitude on stony, limestone-rich soils, the vineyard allows Syrah and Grenache to ripen slowly, preserving vibrant natural acidity alongside rich dark fruit. In the glass, this Famille Perrin red wine pours a deep garnet and opens with expressive aromas of classic cool-climate Syrah: wild blackberries, cassis, crushed violets, and a distinct grind of cracked black pepper. On the palate, the Grenache brings a generous core of dark plum and sweet spice, seamlessly balanced by fine-grained tannins. Thanks to the altitude of the Vinsobres hills, the finish remains remarkably fresh, carrying subtle notes of dried garrigue herbs, cocoa, and a clean, chalky mineral drive. Vinified in stainless steel and neutral oak to preserve its crunchy fruit identity, this dry red wine is an exceptionally versatile choice for everyday drinking and dining. It pairs effortlessly alongside a slow-cooked lamb shoulder, a rich beef daube, or grilled pork chops rubbed with garlic and rosemary.
